The second Training School for PhD Students included discussions on measuring and analyzing national and
regional innovation systems, the role of industrial policy in market-friendly economies, and the evolution of US
innovation policy. Esteemed speakers such as Tarmo Kalvet, Roberto Mavilia, Keun Lee, Sunil Mani, Nick
Vonortas, Franco Malerba, and Pamela Adams added depth to the sessions with their expert knowledge. The
event also focused on evolutionary approaches to innovation, the formation of new firms, and the intangible
assets of businesses in the pandemic era.
Co-organized by TallTech Industrial and financed by UNIDA, the training school provided a fertile ground for
emerging researchers to connect and expand their academic prowess in the fields of innovation and industry
dynamics.
